Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:



Family Story Time will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages 5 through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Children between the ages of 5 and 11 can come by the library at 6 p.m. to receive free homework help from a library volunteer.

Friday, May 11

The Charlotte Knights will take on Durham at 7:04 p.m. at the BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte. Stick around after the game for a post-game fireworks show. Visit www.bbtballparkcharlotte.com for a schedule, promotions and ticket information.

Saturday, May 12

The tenth annual Beach Fest Matthews will be held in and around Stumptown Park in Matthews. The event includes live music, shag dancing, carnival rides, inflatables, arts and crafts and the Cruisin’ Car Show. Festival hours are Friday from 6-10 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Visit www.beachfestmatthews.com for a schedule of events.

The Charlotte Knights will take on Durham at 7:04 p.m. at the BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte. The Knights will host the 13th annual Pink Knights game. Players will wear pink jerseys and will raise money for Carolinas Breast Cancer Fund. The first 2,000 ladies to enter the gates will receive a pink baseball. Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Children can strengthen reading skills by reading aloud to a therapy dog during the Paws to Read program at 10:30 a.m.

Bring your mom at 2 p.m. for a Mother’s Day Celebration with books, music, food and fun. Registration is required.

The Chess Club will meet at 3 p.m.

Thinking Feet of Ballantyne will present a beginner friendly animation programming class for third to fifth grade students at 3 p.m. Registration is required.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Monday, May 14

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Families with babies and toddlers can visit the library at 9:30 a.m. for Family Story Time: 0-2. The program will include stories, songs and movement.

Afternoon Adventures: Homeschool Edition will be held at 1 p.m. The program, for children ages 5 to 11, is focused on developing literacy and critical thinking skills through books and hands-on activities. Registration is required.

Baby Story Time for babies birth through 17 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Tiny Tots Story Time for toddlers ages 18 to 23 months will be held at 11:15 a.m.

The Teen Comic Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. This month’s topic is Buffy. Registration is required.

Two Time Story Time for toddlers age 24 to 36 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Preschool Story Time for children age 3 to 5 will be held at 11:15 a.m.
