Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Family Story Time will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages 5 through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Children between the ages of 5 and 11 can come by the library at 6 p.m. to receive free homework help from a library volunteer.

Friday, May 4

The Children’s Theatre of Charlotte will present Madagascar: A Musical Adventure April 13 to May 6 at the McColl Family Theater in Charlotte. This 75 minute performance is recommended for ages four and older. Visit www.ctcharlotte.org for show times and ticket pricing.

The Intimidators will take on Hagerstown at 7:05 p.m. Dress up as your favorite Star Wars character for Star Wars Night. The team will wear Yoda specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game. The fun will include character appearances, photo opportunities, giveaways and a Star Wars themed fireworks show. Saturday, May 5

The 11th annual Discover Mint Hill event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carl J. McEwen Historic Village (7601 Matthews-Mint Hill Road). The event will feature cultural and civic groups, opening day of the farmer’s market, family activities, live music, food vendors and more. Admission is free. Children can strengthen reading skills by reading aloud to a therapy dog during the Paws to Read program at 10:30 a.m.

The Teen Art Club will meet at 2 p.m. Registration is required.

The Chess Club will meet at 3 p.m.

Monday, May 7

Two Time Story Time for toddlers age 24 to 36 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Preschool Story Time for children age 3 to 5 will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages 5 through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.
