Thursday, April 26

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:



Family Story Time will be held at 11:15 a.m.

A Rookie Science Block Party will be held at 4 p.m. The library will provide Legos and will have small group competitions for the tallest structure, coolest animal creations and more. Bring your own Lego creation from home to enter the Lego Master contest. Registration is required.

Reading Buddies for children ages 5 through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Children between the ages of 5 and 11 can come by the library at 6 p.m. to receive free homework help from a library volunteer.

Bring the whole family in their pjs for Family Pajama Story Time at 6:30 p.m.

Friday, April 27

Bring a lawn chair or blanket to Stumptown Park in downtown Matthews for “Food Truck Friday.” The event is held on second and fourth Fridays, April through September, from 5-9 pm. The event features food and dessert trucks, music and bounce houses. Check out “Matthews Food Truck Fridays” on Facebook for up-to-date information for each event.

The Children’s Theatre of Charlotte will present Madagascar: A Musical Adventure April 13 to May 6 at the McColl Family Theater in Charlotte. This 75 minute performance is recommended for ages four and older. Visit www.ctcharlotte.org for show times and ticket pricing.

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Children can strengthen reading skills by reading aloud to a therapy dog during the Paws to Read program at 10:30 a.m.

Dia 2018 will feature local Indian dance troupe, Creativity Unleashed. Participants will have a chance to observe a performance, learn about Indian culture, dress up in Indian clothes and practice a traditional Indian folk dance. Registration is required.

The Chess Club will meet at 3 p.m.

Sunday, April 29

The Charlotte Knights will take on Norfolk at 2:05 p.m. at the BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte. Fans can take the field for a pre-game catch from 1-1:30 p.m. Kids will have the opportunity to run the bases after the game. Monday, April 30

The Charlotte Knights will take on Gwinnett at 7:04 p.m. at the BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte. Fans will have the opportunity to meet two-time World-Series champion David Justice. Families with babies and toddlers can visit the library at 9:30 a.m. for Family Story Time: 0-2. The program will include stories, songs and movement.

An Active Reading Workshop will be held at 11 a.m. Parents and children ages 2-5 can learn fun ideas and activities to support early literacy at home. Registration is required for this four part workshop series.

Tuesday, May 1

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Baby Story Time for babies birth through 17 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Tiny Tots Story Time for toddlers ages 18 to 23 months will be held at 11:15 a.m.

The American Girl Book Club will meet at 4 p.m. This month’s topic is Kit. Registration is required.

STEM 101 for preteens and teens will meet at 6 p.m. This month’s focus will be paper airplanes. Registration is required.
