An Active Reading Workshop will be held at 2 p.m. Parents and children ages 2-5 can learn fun ideas and activities to support early literacy at home. Registration is required for this four part workshop series.
Reading Buddies for children ages 5 through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.
Friday, March 9
The Children’s Theatre of Charlotte will present The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe March 9 to April 5 at the Wells Fargo Playhouse in Charlotte. This 55 minute, two person adaptation of C. S. The Charlotte Checkers will take on Hartford at 6 p.m. at the Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte. Wrestling Night will feature hall of fame wrestler “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan signing autographs prior to the game. The Checkers will offer a Family Night discount of $45 (40 percent) on groups of four tickets purchased online. Bring a new or gently used pair of children’s shoes for the Soles for Kids Drive and receive a free ticket for a future game. There will also be a DVD Drive benefiting Novant Health.
