Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:



Family Story Time will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages 5 through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Children between the ages of 5 and 11 can come by the library at 6 p.m. to receive free homework help from a library volunteer.

Saturday, January 20

The Charlotte Checkers will take on Rochester at 6 p.m. at the Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte. Visit gocheckers.com for a schedule, promotions and ticket information.

Children can strengthen reading skills by reading aloud to a therapy dog during the Paws to Read program at 10:30 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 3 and 3:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Sunday, January 21

The Charlotte Checkers will take on Rochester at 1 p.m. at the Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte. The Checkers will offer a Family Night discount of $45 (40 percent) on groups of four tickets purchased online. Stick around after the game for a post-game skate with the players. The cost to skate is $8 for those who bring their own skates and $10 for those who rent skates. Proceeds benefit the Checkers Charitable Foundation. Monday, January 22

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Families with babies and toddlers can visit the library at 9:30 a.m. for Family Story Time: 0-2. The program will include stories, songs and movement.

Children will enjoy stories, songs and movement in both English and Spanish during the Stories in 2 Languages: Spanish program at 10:15 a.m.

Afternoon Adventures: Homeschool Edition will be held at 1 p.m. The program, for children ages five to 18, is focused on developing literacy and critical thinking skills through books and hands-on activities.

Baby Story Time for babies birth through 17 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Tiny Tots Story Time for toddlers ages 18 to 23 months will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 6 and 6:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Wednesday, January 24

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Two Time Story Time for toddlers age 24 to 36 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Preschool Story Time for children age three to five will be held at 11:15 a.m.

An Active Reading Workshop will be held at 2 p.m. Parents and children ages 2-5 can learn fun ideas and activities to support early literacy at home. Registration is required for this four part workshop series.

The Rookie Science program will be held at 4 p.m. Kids ages five to 11 are invited to explore science through books, hands-on educational activities, and experiments. Registration is required.
