Happy Thanksgiving!



The Charlotte Thanksgiving Day Parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. The parade will march north on Tryon Street from Stonewall Street to 9th Street. Friday, November 24

The Children’s Theatre of Charlotte will present “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical” November 24 to December 23. Visit www.ctcharlotte.org for show times and ticket information.

Saturday, November 25

The Charlotte Hornets will take on the San Antonio Spurs at 7 p.m. at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte. The first 7,500 fans will receive a Dwight Howard bobblehead. Visit www.nba.com/hornets for a schedule, promotions and ticket information.

The Charlotte Checkers will take on Providence at 6 p.m. at the Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte. The Checkers will offer a Family Night discount of $45 (40 percent) on groups of four tickets purchased online. Stick around after the game to take a shot on the ice for Slap Shot Saturday. The Checkers will also be holding a holiday toy drive. Bring a toy to receive a free Chuck-a-Puck. The first 40 people to donate a checkers board game for Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital will also receive an autographed Checkers item. Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Family Story Time will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Children can learn chess basics during the Learn, Play, Connect program at 3 p.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 3 and 3:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Sunday, November 26

The Charlotte Checkers will take on Providence at 1 p.m. at the Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte. Bring a stuffed animal to throw on the ice after the Checkers’ first goal. The players will deliver the donated stuffed animals to charity. The game will also feature superhero appearances. Fans will meet and get pictures taken with their favorite superhero characters. Monday, November 27

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Families with babies and toddlers can visit the library at 9:30 a.m. for Family Story Time: 0-2. The program will include stories, songs and movement.

An Active Reading Workshop will be held at 11 a.m. for parents/caregivers of children ages 2-5. This is a 4-part workshop series focusing on fun ideas and activities to support early literacy at home. Parents will learn to use the ABCs of Active Reading with your child. Registration is required.

Tuesday, November 28

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Baby Story Time for babies birth through 17 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Tiny Tots Story Time for toddlers ages 18 to 23 months will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 6 and 6:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Wednesday, November 29

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Two Time Story Time for toddlers age 24 to 36 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Preschool Story Time for children age three to five will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Bring the whole family to enjoy a puppet show story time program at 6:30 p.m.
