Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:



Family Story Time will be held at 11:15 a.m.

NC Science Festival: Mad Science will be held at 4 p.m. Mad Science of the Carolinas will present Rocket Science. Registration is required.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

 

Saturday, April 22

Habitat and Wildlife Keepers (HAWK) will host Earth Day with Kids in Nature Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Four Mile Creek Greenway behind the Matthews Community Center. The event will feature recycling opportunities, rain barrels, Operation Medicine Drop, document shredding, eco-friendly exhibits and vendors, trees and planting demos, hikes, fishing, scavenger hunts, kid’s crafts, fairy houses, food and music. Reed Gold Mine in Midland will host a 40th anniversary event to celebrate the 1977 opening of the historic site. The event will feature living history demonstrations, hands-on mining activities and mining related vendors. Visitors can pan for gold, try a cradle rocker and take a guided underground tour. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 3-12. Panning cost is $3.21.

Family Story Time will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Teen tutors will be available to help with elementary-level reading or math homework at 9:30 a.m. First-come, first-served for 30 minute sessions.

The Teen Book Club will meet at 2 p.m. Registration is required.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 3 and 3:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

 

Monday, April 24

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Families with babies and toddlers can visit the library at 9:30 a.m. for Family Story Time: 0-2. The program will include stories, songs and movement.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 6 and 6:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.
Tuesday, April 25

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Baby Story Time for babies birth through 17 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Tiny Tots Story Time for toddlers ages 18 to 23 months will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Teen tutors will be available to help with elementary-level reading or math homework at 5 p.m. First-come, first-served for 30 minute sessions.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 6 and 6:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

 

Wednesday, April 26

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Two Time Story Time for toddlers age 24 to 36 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Preschool Story Time for children age three to five will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Teen tutors will be available to help with elementary-level reading or math homework at 4 p.m. First-come, first-served for 30 minute sessions.
