Thursday, October 5

Disney on Ice will present Frozen at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte Thursday, October 5 through Sunday, October 8. Show dates and times are as follows: October 5 at 7 p.m., October 6 at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m., October 7 at 11 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and October 8 at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tickets start at $20. Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Family Story Time will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Children between the ages of 5 and 11 can come by the library at 6 p.m. to receive free homework help from a library volunteer.

Friday, October 6

A Food Truck Friday Rally will be held at Barking Duck Brewery in Mint Hill (4400 Morris Park Drive). Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a variety of food options while visiting with neighbors and friends. For more information, visit www.EatFromATruck.com.

Saturday, October 7

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Family Story Time will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Children can strengthen reading skills by reading aloud to a therapy dog during the Paws to Read program at 10:30 a.m.

The Teen Art Club will be held at 2 p.m. Registration is required.

Children can learn chess basics during the Learn, Play, Connect program at 3 p.m.

Monday, October 9

All Charlotte Mecklenburg libraries will be closed for staff training/Columbus Day.

Tuesday, October 10

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Baby Story Time for babies birth through 17 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Tiny Tots Story Time for toddlers ages 18 to 23 months will be held at 11:15 a.m.

The Afternoon Adventures program will be held at 3 p.m. This month’s theme will be birthdays and will explore the book “11 Birthdays” by Wendy Mass.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 6 and 6:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Wednesday, October 11

The Town of Mint Hill along with the Independence High School Booster Club will host a bonfire and pep rally from 7-9 p.m. at the Mint Hill Veterans Memorial Park. The event will celebrate the 2017 seniors, introduce the Homecoming court, feature music from the marching band and get ready for the upcoming King of the Hill competition.

The Charlotte Hornets will play their first preseason home game at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte. The Hornets will take on the Boston Celtics at 7 p.m. Visit www.nba.com/hornets for a schedule and ticket information.
