Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Family Story Time will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Friday, August 18

Children can learn chess basics during the Learn, Play, Connect program at 3 p.m.

Saturday, August 19

The Town of Mint Hill will host a Back to School Pep Rally from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Kick off the school year with Independence High School faculty, staff, boosters, marching band, athletes and families. The evening will include bounce houses for the kids, face painting, corn hole and giant Jenga. Lots of fun foods…sno cones, ice cream, cotton candy, donuts and so much more. All activities are free, so bring your family and enjoy a night out.

Discovery Place Kids in Huntersville will host a Solar Eclipse 2017 program. Hear the story The Big Eclipse by Nancy Coffelt and participate in activities to learn why the sky will go dark on August 21. The fun starts at 11:15 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 19 and 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, August 20. Activities are included with museum admission.

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Children can strengthen reading skills by reading aloud to a therapy dog during the Paws to Read program at 10:30 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 3 and 3:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Teens who completed the Summer Break program are eligible to register for a laser tag event. No online registrations are permitted. Teens must come into the branch or phone and speak with a staff member to register. Laser tag will be held from 8:30-10:30 p.m.

Sunday, August 20

Total Being Yoga invites the Mint Hill community to join them in supporting Girls on the Run of Union County for a donation-based workshop titled “Activate Gratitude, Cultivate Joy” from 4 to 5:30 p.m.  Instead of a fee to participate in the workshop, interested participants can instead bring any of the following items: small brown paper bags, gallon and XL sized ziplock bags,  white construction paper, manila envelopes, index cards, washable markers, sharpies, sidewalk chalk, beach balls and paper plates. These items will be collected throughout the entire month of August. These small and inexpensive items make a big difference to the organization.

Monday, August 21

Grab a pair of eclipse glasses and watch the Solar Eclipse 2017.

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Families with babies and toddlers can visit the library at 9:30 a.m. for Family Story Time: 0-2. The program will include stories, songs and movement.

Tuesday, August 22

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Baby Story Time for babies birth through 17 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Tiny Tots Story Time for toddlers ages 18 to 23 months will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 6 and 6:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Wednesday, August 23

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Two Time Story Time for toddlers age 24 to 36 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Preschool Story Time for children age three to five will be held at 11:15 a.m.

The Rookie Science program will be held at 4 p.m. Kids ages five to 11 are invited to explore science through books, hands-on educational activities, and experiments. Registration is required.

Bring the whole family to enjoy a puppet show story time program at 6:30 p.m.
