Thursday, August 10

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Family Story Time will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Friday, August 11

Bring a lawn chair or blanket to Stumptown Park in downtown Matthews for “Food Truck Friday.” The event is held on second and fourth Fridays, March through September, from 5-9 pm. The event features food and dessert trucks, music and bounce houses. Check out “Matthews Food Truck Fridays” on Facebook for up-to-date information for each event.



 Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Teens are invited to participate in the annual Monopoly Tournament at 9:30 a.m. Round one will be played in the morning with a pizza lunch break followed by the championship round. Registration is required.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 2 and 2:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Saturday, August 12

Head to the ballpark in Kannapolis for Back to School Night with the Intimidators. The Intimidators will take on Greensboro at 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans into the ballpark will receive an Intimidators logo baseball. A school supplies drive will also be held at the stadium.

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Family Story Time will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Children can strengthen reading skills by reading aloud to a therapy dog during the Paws to Read program at 10:30 a.m.

The Teen Art Club will meet at 2 p.m. Registration is required.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 3 and 3:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Sunday, August 13

Head to the ballpark in Kannapolis for an evening of fun with the Intimidators. The Intimidators will take on Greensboro at 5:05 p.m. Come early to receive autographs from your favorite players and plan to stay after the game for the kids to run the bases.

Monday, August 14

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Families with babies and toddlers can visit the library at 9:30 a.m. for Family Story Time: 0-2. The program will include stories, songs and movement.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 6 and 6:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Tuesday, August 15

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Baby Story Time for babies birth through 17 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Tiny Tots Story Time for toddlers ages 18 to 23 months will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 6 and 6:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

The Teen Comic Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. Registration is required.

Wednesday, August 16

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Two Time Story Time for toddlers age 24 to 36 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Preschool Story Time for children age three to five will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.
