Visit Discovery Place Science in Charlotte for Shark Week July 23-30. The daily activity schedule includes a shark-themed craft, fossil dig and the opportunity to observe a real shark dissection. Friday, July 28
Head to the BB&T Ballpark to enjoy a night of baseball with the Charlotte Knights. The Knights will take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders at 7:05 p.m. The evening will feature a Friday Night Fireworks show following the game.
Bring a lawn chair or blanket to Stumptown Park in downtown Matthews for “Food Truck Friday.” The event is held on second and fourth Fridays, March through September, from 5-9 pm. The event features food and dessert trucks, music and bounce houses. Check out “Matthews Food Truck Fridays” on Facebook for up-to-date information for each event.

Enjoy live music and baseball tonight at the BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte. The Tsunami Wave Riders will host a pre-game concert from 6-7 p.m. followed by a 7:05 p.m. game between the Charlotte Knights and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. One fan attending tonight’s game will also win a Carnival Cruise.

Children can strengthen reading skills by reading aloud to a therapy dog during the Paws to Read program at 10:30 a.m.

Sunday, July 30
Head to the BB&T Ballpark to enjoy a night of baseball with the Charlotte Knights. The Knights will take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders at 5:05 p.m. Kids 12 and under will have a chance to run the bases after the game. For Salute to Softball night, the Long Run Bombers will hold a pregame Home Run Derby at the ballpark.

Families with babies and toddlers can visit the library at 9:30 a.m. for Family Story Time: 0-2. The program will include stories, songs and movement.

Baby Story Time for babies birth through 17 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.
Tiny Tots Story Time for toddlers ages 18 to 23 months will be held at 11:15 a.m.
Children and teens ages 10-18 are invited to participate in hands-on science experiments, engineering projects and math puzzles during the STEM 101 program at 6 p.m.
