Happy Thanksgiving!



Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade will kick off at 9 a.m. in Charlotte. The parade route will begin at 9th Street and march south on Tryon Street to Stonewall Street. The parade will air at 4 p.m. on WBTV and again on Christmas morning. It will also be live streamed on WBTV’s Facebook page and on the parade app.

Friday, November 29

Children’s Theater of Charlotte will present The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical from November 29 through December 29 at McColl Family Theater. The show is approximately 70 minutes in length and is recommended for all ages. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.ctcharlotte.org.

Holiday on Ice, Charlotte’s outdoor ice skating rink, is open for the 2019 season. Bring your own skates for $12 or admission plus skate rental is $16. Saturday, November 30

The Charlotte Checkers will take on Providence at 6 p.m. at the Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte. Kids tickets are available for $5 and the first 1,500 kids to arrive get a free jersey. Bring a stuffed animal to throw on the ice following the first goal. The toys will be donated to local nonprofits. Visit gocheckers.com for a schedule, promotions and ticket information.

Family Story Time will be held at the Mint Hill Library at 9:30 a.m.

Tickets are currently on sale for the Nutcracker Ballet, Sugar Plum Party, and Breakfast with Santa events at the Matthews Community Center. The Nutcracker Ballet is presented by Matthews Ballet and Dance. Performances will be held on the following dates: November 30 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., December 1 at 3 p.m., December 7 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and December 8 at 3 p.m. Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under. A Sugar Plum Party will be held immediately after the 3 p.m. performances on December 1 and 8. Sugar Plum Party tickets are $5. Breakfast with Santa is scheduled for December 14 and 21 at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. The event is for children ages 2-8. Tickets are $10 per person. Sunday, December 1

The Charlotte Checkers will take on Providence at 1 p.m. at the Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte. Donate a toy to the Novant Health toy drive and receive a ticket to a future game. Fans are invited to take the ice with the players after the game. A special package including game ticket and postgame skate admission is available. Monday, December 2

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Families with babies and toddlers can visit the library at 9:30 a.m. for Family Story Time: 0-2. The program will include stories, songs and movement.

One-on-one math tutoring sessions with a teen volunteer will be available at 4 p.m. Registration is required.

Reading Buddies for children ages 5 through 11 will be available at 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a library volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required. Registration is limited to one 30 minute session per week.

Tuesday, December 3

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Baby Story Time for babies birth through 17 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Tiny Tots Story Time for toddlers ages 18 to 23 months will be held at 11:15 a.m.

The American Girl Book Club will meet at 4 p.m. This month’s topic will be Kirsten. Registration is required.

One-on-one math tutoring sessions with a teen volunteer will be available at 6 p.m. Registration is required.

Reading Buddies for children ages 5 through 11 will be available at 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a library volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required. Registration is limited to one 30 minute session per week.

Wednesday, December 4

The Charlotte Hornets will take on the Golden State Warriors at 7 p.m. at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte. Fans will enjoy a Hornets winter hat giveaway. Visit www.nba.com/hornets for a schedule, promotions and ticket information.
