Family Story Time will be held at the Mint Hill Library at 11:15 a.m.



Friday, September 13

Bring a lawn chair or blanket to Stumptown Park in downtown Matthews for “Food Truck Friday.” The event is held on second and fourth Fridays, April through September, from 5-9 pm. The event features food and dessert trucks, music and bounce houses. Tonight’s concert will feature Sonic Rewind. Saturday, September 14

Family Story Time will be held at the Mint Hill Library at 9:30 a.m.

The Cabarrus County Fair will be held September 6-14. Fair hours are Monday-Thursday 4-10 p.m., Friday 4-11 p.m., Saturday 1-11 p.m. and Sunday 1-10 p.m. Fair admission is $8 for adults (12+), $5 for children (6-11), and free for children 5 and under. Reed Gold Mine in Midland will host the 30th annual Gold Panning Competition. Experienced gold panners and novices can compete in the panning competition. Entry fees are $15 for adults and $10 for juniors (14 and under) in the pro division. Entry fees for the amateur division are $5 for adults and juniors. The pro division will practice and compete between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. and the amateur division will practice and compete between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Proceeds from the Pan-O-Lympics benefit the Reed Expansion Committee, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Reed Gold Mine State Historic Site and North Carolina’s gold mining history. In addition to the panning competition, visitors will enjoy guided underground tours, demonstrations of the 1895 stamp mill, an orientation film and visitor center exhibits. Monday, September 16

Families with babies and toddlers can visit the Mint Hill Library at 9:30 a.m. for Family Story Time: 0-2. The program will include stories, songs and movement.

Tuesday September 17

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Baby Story Time for babies birth through 17 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Tiny Tots Story Time for toddlers ages 18 to 23 months will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Wednesday, September 18

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Two Time Story Time for toddlers age 24 to 36 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Preschool Story Time for children age 3 to 5 will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Bring the whole family to enjoy a puppet show at 6:30 p.m.
