Thursday, August 8

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Family Story Time will be held at the library at 11:15 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages 5 through 11 will be available at 2:00, 2:30, 3:00 and 3:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a library volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required. Registration is limited to one 30 minute session per week.

Friday, August 9

The Mint Hill Library will show a fun summer movie for kids at 2 p.m.



Bring a lawn chair or blanket to Stumptown Park in downtown Matthews for “Food Truck Friday”. The event is held on second and fourth Fridays, April through September, from 5 to 9 p.m. The event features food and dessert trucks, music and bounce houses. Tonight’s concert will feature Party Parrot Band. Check out “Matthews Food Truck Fridays” on Facebook for up-to-date information for each event.

Saturday, August 10

Sea Life Charlotte-Concord will host Teacher Appreciation Week August 10-17. Teachers are invited to enjoy free admission to the aquarium with a valid education ID. Additional guests are $10 each. Visit www.visitsealife.com/charlotte-concord for more information.

A STEAM 101 program for children ages 8-15 will be held at 11 a.m. Registration is required.

Monday, August 12

Families with babies and toddlers can visit the Mint Hill Library at 9:30 a.m. for Family Story Time: 0-2. The program will include stories, songs, and movement.

Tuesday August 13

The Charlotte Knights will take on Scranton/Wilkes-Barre at 7:04 p.m. at the BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte. New York Yankees legend Bernie Williams will perform the National Anthem and throw out the game’s ceremonial first pitch.
