Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Family Story Time will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Bring the kids in their pjs for Family Pajama Storytime at 6:30 p.m.

Head to the ballpark in Kannapolis for First Responders Night at the Intimidators baseball game. The game begins at 7:05 p.m. Local first responders will be recognized during the game and kids will have a chance to meet their favorite Paw Patrol characters. Children can learn chess basics during the Learn, Play, Connect program at 3 p.m.

Saturday, July 1

The Town of Matthews will hold a Fun Family Fourth of July in Stumptown Park. Bike decorating begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by the People’s Parade at 6 p.m. The parade route will run from Matthews Station St. in front of town hall to Stumptown Park. The fun will continue with a concert by Too Much Sylvia at 7 p.m.

Head to the ballpark in Kannapolis for an Intimidators baseball game followed by an All American Patriotic Fireworks Show. The Intimidators will take on Delmarva at 7:05 p.m. For more information or tickets, visit www.intimidatorsbaseball.com.

 Monday, July 3

Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the Town of Mint Hill’s annual patriotic concert featuring the Queen City Brass Band at 7:30 p.m.

For the Fourth of July holiday, Carowinds will offer free admission to military members on Monday, July 3, Tuesday, July 4 and Wednesday, July 5. There will be fireworks on Tuesday, July 4.

Head to the ballpark in Kannapolis for an Intimidators baseball game followed by an Independence Fireworks Extravaganza. The Intimidators will take on Delmarva at 7:05 p.m. The game is also a guaranteed win night. If the Intimidators don’t win, attendees will receive a free ticket for a future game. Families with babies and toddlers can visit the library at 9:30 a.m. for Family Story Time: 0-2. The program will include stories, songs and movement.

Tuesday, July 4

The Fourth of July Celebration at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte will begin with the SkyShow Street Party. The street festival will take place from 2-10 p.m. on Mint Street and MLK Boulevard in front of the ballpark. The festival will feature live music, carnival rides, bounce houses and more. The fun will continue with a baseball game between Team USA and Team Cuba starting at 6:05 p.m. The game will be followed by the SkyShow Fireworks Spectacular. For those not attending the game, fireworks can be seen from any place near the ballpark, such as Romare Bearden Park.

Wednesday, July 5

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Two Time Story Time for toddlers age 24 to 36 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Preschool Story Time for children age three to five will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Thursday, July 6

The library will show Pete’s Dragon (PG) at 3 p.m.
