Independence Patriots

Volleyball: 

Piper Glasgow, Juliana Charles, Jessica Draffen, Sophia Ternes, Abriana Berry, Elizabeth Andrews, Holly Hunter, and Lilly Repak all played significant rolls in an outstanding team effort to overcome a big comeback from the Rocky River Ravens in their 3-2 team victory.

Tennis: 

Madelynn Fowler – The super sophomore is 5-1 in singles competition, she is the number 1 seed on the team; Elizabeth Frier, the senior who is the number 2 seed in singles is 2-1, and sophomore Lily Loker is 5-1 in singles competition as the number 4 seed. In doubles, the number 1 team of Fowler and Loker is 4-2, the number 2 team of Kendall Barnes and Frier is 3-2, and the number 3 doubles team with Grace Deseve and  McKenzie Grant are 3-3 to date.

The Girls Tennis team is having a good season. They are currently 4-2 overall, and 2-0 in conference competition. They recently defeated Porter Ridge in a key conference match.



Rocky River Ravens

Volleyball:

McKinley Roach: This athletic sophomore played an outstanding game against Independence keeping the Ravens always within striking distance. She had the winner in the fourth set with a huge smash on a kill shot at the net.

Seniors Keenia Johnson-Mclaughlin, Hannah Armstrong, Justice McCorkle, and Dominque Barrett all made key contributions in the Ravens comeback run.

Butler Bulldogs 

Football: 

Jamal Worthy – The 6’2″, 200-pound senior running back had a total of 187 offensive yards on Friday night. He gained 140 yards on the ground, and 47 yards on one screen pass in three-quarters of competition in a blowout win for the Bulldogs.

Parish Metzger – The junior quarterback tossed two touchdowns and engineered 4 touchdown drives for the Bulldogs on Friday night.

Lamont Brooks – The running back caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Metzger while picking up valuable rushing yardage and another catch for a 24-yard gain.

Bo Huff – The defensive end had an outstanding game applying steady pressure all night on the Panthers. His biggest moment came when he recovered a fumble and rambled into the end zone from the 30-yard line for a touchdown.

Honorable Mention: John Park and AJ Starks on the defensive side of the ball had an excellent game and spent the night in the Panthers backfield. Isaiah Trent caught a touchdown pass, Darious Bobo had two key pass receptions, and Isaiah Lawson had an interception that led to a touchdown.
