
Independence Patriots
Football:
Cameron Kromah – The senior QB was selected this weeks ‘Player of the Week” based on his overall performance on the football field leading the Patriots offense to a 26-0 shoutout of local Mint Hill rival Rocky River Ravens in a huge conference win for Independence. He rushed for a touchdown, and connected on a 40 yard pass completion for a big TD. Then engineered a 20 play over 9 minute drive in the 3rd quarter to secure the victory with 1:01 into the final quarter.
Amari Hakeem – The senior RB on senior night accumulated 70 yards rushing including two rumbles for touchdowns from the 4 and 6 yard line. He also contributed another 12 yards on a punt return.
Shaun Soloman – The junior RB contributed 42 yards on 14 carries in primarily the second half providing a change of pace in running style from his running mate Amari Hakeem making a significant contribution to the team.
Joshua Iseah – The leader on the Patriots defense had an outstanding football game Friday night accumulating 10 tackles, 3 for losses, including 2 QB sacks, and a pass interception. The Patriots defense has not allowed a point in two games, and Iseah has played a major role on the defensive side of the ball all season.
Diego Barahona – The Patriots punter provided 4 punts averaging 33 yards per kick in the football game. He somehow was able to escape getting a punt off under enormous pressure with Ravens all around him deep in his own territory preventing a potential momentum switch in the contest.
Soccer:
Thomas Rosenquist – The senior in 17 games has 4 goals and 7 assists for 15 points. He leads the team in assists and points. His defense has been solid all season for the Patriots. His 4 goals are on only 5 SOG which is an excellent percentage.
Charlie Gottlieb – The junior in 17 games leads the team with 6 goals, he has 1 assist and 13 points on the season. He has taken 16 SOG for the Patriots.
Girls Tennis:
Madelynn (Maddie) Fowler – The senior #1 Singles is 5-2 against the competitions best, and 5-1 in Doubles competition. The Patriots are 8-2 overall, and 5-1 in the conference.
Kendall Barnes – The #2 Singles seed is 6-1 in Singles matches, and 5-1 in Doubles competition sets this season.
Lily Loker – The sophomore #3 seed is 5-1 in Singles matches, and is 5-1 in Doubles with partner Maddie Fowler this season.
