Independence Patriots 

Basketball: 



Anthony Allen – The senior guard scored 16 points, had 4 rebounds, 3 assists and two steals in the Patriots overtime victory against Richmond Senior. Against Hough he scored 16 points with 2 assists and 3 steals.

Nygell Verdier – The senior forward scored 10 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 1 block in the round 2 wins. He scored 15 points vs. the Huskies with 8 rebounds.

Omarion Bodrick – The “Big O” added 9 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 3 blocks including 4 slam dunks in the contest. He scored 6 points with 4 blocks against Hough.

Jalen Hinton – The productive shooting guard from the 3 -point range scored 11 points while adding 1 assist and 2 steals for the Patriots. He scored 7 points against Hough.

Tachai Miller – The junior guard scored 8 points, added 4 assists and 3 steals in the 4th round victory over Hough making a solid contribution.

Girls Basketball: 

Braylyn Milton – The junior standout scored 21 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals and 1 block in the Patriots first-round win in the state playoffs.

Gracie Breckenridge – The tall lady in the middle scored 8 points, hauled down 8 rebounds and blocked 4 shots in the win.

Averie DiBenedetto – The junior spark plug scored 8 points, added 2 assists, 2 steals and added 1 block in a solid performance.

Trinity Thompson – The senior scored 6 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.

Note: The Lady Patriots lost their second-round state playoff game to #1 seed Mallard Creek 81-55 ending their best season in over a decade with a 21-8 overall record, and a  10-4 record in the Southwestern 4A Conference.

Queen’s Grant Stallions 

Basketball:

Jeremiah Murphy – The team leader scored 19 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the first round overtime playoff win over South Stanley 63-61.

LB Boyette – The senior contributed 19 points and 6 rebounds in the victory for the Stallions.

Josh Williams – The guard added 19 points, 4 assists and 2 steals in the win. He also drilled 3 consecutive free throws with 6 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime.

Note: The Stallions season ended on a loss to Mountain Island Charter 86-67 on the road. MIC is the #3 seed in the west and is a highly rated team in Class 1A. The Stallions had another winning season with a 19-11 overall record.

Rocky River Ravens

Basketball: 

Nick Burns – The senior smooth guard ended his high school career on a high and low. He scored 21 points, added 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals in his last game in a tough loss to Hough.

Calek “Duke” Thomas – The junior standout contributed 14 points, 10 rebounds for the double-double. He also blocked a shot, added 2 assists and 2 steals during the contest.

Christian Rudisell – The junior added 13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals making a solid contribution.

Note: The Ravens ended the season with a first-round state playoff loss to Hough 63-61 in a hard-fought game. Rocky River ended the season with an 11-13 record.
