Wine, Yes, But So Much More!

Vintner’s Hill cordially invites you to spend the day. What? How can that be? It’s easy–come in for your morning coffee, or latte, or espresso and grab one of their morning baked goods, as long as you’re there. Morning customer Colin Lerch said, “I used to go all the way to Matthews to find a  place like this, but now I am just around the corner. Really convenient.”

Continue your day by working on your laptop in a quiet setting, and make some phone calls to friends to meet there for lunch. They can enjoy a full array of salads and sandwiches; in fact, remind them that the chicken salad is made from white meat and a proven recipe right there in the kitchen. A very popular choice. Or maybe they would like an apple and goat cheese salad (even their salad dressings are made right there), or possibly a panini or flatbread. It’s all good.

Bavarian pretzels with beer cheese

After lunch, its back to your office away from the office, and by mid afternoon you are ready for a snack. How about truffle popcorn or the sweet heat pub mix made with peanuts, pecans, hot and spicy sesame sticks and Cajun seasoning? Your date is meeting you there for dinner, and you start with something from the shareable list, like the Bavarian soft pretzel with homemade chipotle cheese, or possibly the bacon wrapped dates with goat cheese. You want to order dinner, but you don’t know what wine goes with your menu choice–good news–there will be somebody there to guide you. What’s a great dinner without a gourmet dessert? Perhaps your sweet tooth calls for a butter bar or cheesecake. What a great day!

New desserts and wine choices

Vintner’s Hill “Bean to Vine” Cafe’s owners, Ken Musk, Liane Cooke, and Chris Coy have stepped up their lunch and dinner menu and have started serving coffee in the morning, along with baked goods and pastries. Liane Cooke said, “People are sometimes surprised to find we serve food as well as coffee, wine and beer.” All their foods are freshly prepared on the premises, and can change with the calendar. Liane explained, “Since we pride ourselves on fresh food, we offer the best of each season.” Their beers, wines, and desserts change every few months. Presently, their most popular beer is Friki Tiki (an IPA) and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale.

With all their special monthly events, Vintner’s Hill has become a popular meeting place. The first Monday of each month, they offer a $5 wine tasting, where the three new wines of the month are made available. Every third week, there is a “tap takeover” featuring their newest beer and providing a chance to talk to the brewer and learn a little about the new offering. Perhaps you have seen budding artists at Vintner’s taking watercolor classes, or a group of women who come in every week to sit, knit, and sip. Vintner’s Hill graciously offers hospitality to a number of social groups.

“We have catering available for off the premises events, and can accommodate private events here, such as birthday parties, wedding showers, or business meetings,” Liane said. “We are not normally open on Sunday, but will do so for private parties.”

If you’ve gone past Vintner’s Hill on a pleasant evening, you have probably seen groups of people sitting around and socializing at one of the two fire pits, or dining at one of the outdoor tables. “We extend our closing hours when the weather gets nicer so people can enjoy themselves longer,” Liane said. “Being able to sit outside–especially by a fire pit–is a real draw.”

Vintners Hill Gift Baskets

As you are sipping on your favorite adult beverage, be sure to check our their wine shop along the front wall, or ask about having a wine basket made up for someone special. “You should have seen this place at Christmas,” Liane said. “All these tables were covered with wine gift baskets that people had ordered!”

In February, Vintner’s Hill will begin taking online carryout orders for food and coffee. You’ll be able to just type in your order, and it will be ready when you get there.

Vintner’s Hill is presently open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday,7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and are closed Sunday, except for private parties.
