Novant Health celebrated the grand opening of the Mint Hill Medical Office Building on Tuesday, November 15th. Mayor Ted Biggers was on hand for the official ribbon cutting ceremony. “Novant has become an integral part of our community,” Biggers said in his remarks. The building is home to three medical practices that began seeing patients on November 9th.

Dr. C. J. Atkinson, physician lead for Novant medical group, welcomed residents and members of the Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce to the event. “These physicians can provide care for the whole family, through every stage of life,” he said. Indeed, the three clinics inside the medical office building offer primary, women’s, and pediatric care, providing a one-stop shop for comprehensive care for the entire family.

Dr. Chris Chandler, who completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the U.S. Naval Hospital in 2005, will see patients through at Novant Health Mint Hill OB/GYN. Dr. Erica Berger, board-certified pediatrician and a Wisconsin native, will care for patients at Novant Health Lakeside Pediatrics.

Dr. Ava Hudson is a family physician, who is board-certified in internal medicine as well as pediatrics. She is also trained in sports medicine.

“We’re excited about being here,” Dr. Hudson says. “Our goal is to provide comprehensive, convenient care to the Mint Hill community.”

The state-of-the-art facility is fully equipped with 27 patient exam rooms, ultrasound and x-ray capabilities, and a full-service laboratory. Its streamlined design allows the patient to see the physician and go right down the hall for x-rays or labs. If the patient is already in the Novant Health system, his or her electronic medical record will be available to the Mint Hill physicians.

President and Chief Operating Officer of upcoming Novant Health Mint Hill Medical Center, Joy Greear, says the community has been amazing in showing support for the project. She says the next stage is the 3-story hospital that will be built on the campus. “We’re pouring concrete tomorrow,” Greear says, “and we’re already discussing expansion as the needs of the community grow.”
