Fresh local strawberries!

If you want fresh-picked local strawberries this spring, you don’t have to travel any farther than the corner of 218 and Philadelphia Church Road!

The strawberries come from Deer Run Farm, which is located off Highway 24/27 in Midland. Deer Run Farm is a family owned and operated business, which grows and supplies wheat straw to Charlotte-area landscapers in addition to operating their 4-acre strawberry fields. This year, Deer Run Farm plans to add sweet corn to its list of produce.

The strawberries that are sold in Mint Hill are picked fresh from the farm. “These were picked about 9:00 this morning,” said Jerry Savage of today’s selections. A large bucket of strawberries costs $13.00. The bright red stand sits on 218 across from Pelican’s SnoBalls, but whether or not you’ll see Savage there depends on the berry harvest. He hopes that enough berries are growing now that he’ll be out every day.

If you prefer, you can also pick your own strawberries at the farm. Deer Run Farm is open 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm Sunday. They welcome individuals and groups.

Deer Run Farm posts daily farm and farm stand updates on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/deerrunfarmllc/.
