Margaret McConathy and Madison Plucker, owners of Bella Vita Salon, have one goal on their minds when they go work each day. “We want people to feel beautiful at Bella Vita.” Even the salon’s name, Italian for “beautiful life,” reflects the salon’s purpose. “We want to make your salon experience as unique and memorable as you are.”
Margaret and Madison opened up Bella Vita in 2014. The salon is open from Tuesday to Saturday. In addition to haircuts for men, women, and children, the salon can also style hair for special occasions such as weddings, proms, or a special night on the town.
The stylists offer color services including color correction when that Do It Yourself color went all wrong. For a more luxurious experience, add a botanical treatment to your haircut and shampoo. Starting with a gentle scalp massage, this treatment uses plant-based products to restore or detoxify your scalp, and moisturize or repair damaged hair.
Margaret has been giving people beautiful hair for over 20 years. Madison, who was trained at the Aveda Institute of Charlotte, has been a cosmetologist since 2011.
The salon focuses on hair styling and color with techniques such as ombre and balayage, types of hair painting. The shop hopes to expand their services to include skin care, waxing, and massage therapy.
One way Bella Vita seeks to fulfill its mission is by being the only salon in Mint Hill providing Aveda products. Aveda is a line of all-natural products that are derived from plants and use essential oils in its formulas. Aveda is also a strong supporter of environmentally-friendly practices. In addition to the company’s emphasis on recycling, Aveda supports the use of wind energy in operating its production facilities.
Bella Vita also emphasizes care for the environment. Bella Vita honors breast cancer awareness month each year by donating proceeds from the sale of the Aveda hand relief moisturizing cream.
Also, in an effort to support the Catawba River Keepers, Bella Vita donated the proceeds from the sale of “Light the Way” candles during Earth Month 2016.
Bella Vita offers color services for both men and women. Finding a colorist can be a challenge. At Bella Vita, no matter what stylist you see, you get the same color experience every time. This is one of the things that Margaret says sets Bella Vita apart. “We’re not interested in cookie cutter color from a box,” Margaret says. “We do 100% customized color based on what the client wants.”
Margaret and Madison say they are up for a challenge. With a full line of Aveda products at their fingertips, the Bella Vita stylists can meet any hair-related problem head on. Have hair that is frizzy and unmanageable? Bella Vita has a remedy for that. Even folks who have had trouble with hair color in the past have had great results with the products available at Bella Vita. “We have the knowledge to create a cut and color for clients and then teach them how to maintain that style at home,” Margaret says.
What if you’ve wanted to try a hair color but haven’t taken that leap yet? “We have color-enhancing shampoo and conditioner that lasts only until you wash it,” Madison says. “And we also have a demi-color line.” Demi-color glosses over the hair in a formula that blends in the gray hair more subtly. Since it’s not permanent, it fades in a more even and natural way. Demi-color lasts between 4 and 8 weeks depending on how often the hair is washed. Demi-color appeals to both men and women who want some gray coverage without it being noticeable that a product has been applied.
