Two Patriot wrestlers are champions at county tourney

Eighteen schools participated in the two-day Al Kessie Mecklenburg County Wrestling Tournament held at Olympic High School this past weekend. 
The tournament is named after a former coach and athletic director in CMS who started the tournament many years ago. 
From Mint Hill, Independence, Rocky River, and first time participant Queens Grant wrestled. 
Queens Grant came away with one place winner, Connor Day, who took fourth place at 145 lbs. Rocky River had one place winner as well, Seth Johnson, who came in fourth place in the 195 lbs. weight class.
The Independence wrestling team came in third in team points without a full lineup.

Local business supports car consumers, wrestling team

Independence High School’s wrestling team and Manchester Automotive and Tire are teaming up for Car Care Awareness Month. The wrestling team will provide car washes while Manchester offers free vehicle check-ups from 9 am to 1 pm, Saturday, April 21.
Manchester will provide a checklist for vehicles, inspecting lights, fluids, tires, and more.
“Free inspection is something we just try to give back to the community,” says owner Ken Manchester. “It’s the simple things. [For example] nobody really checks the air in their tires anymore.”

Manchester Auto car wash / free inspections April 21

Saturday, April 21 from 9-1 pm, Manchester Auto & Tire will have free car washes and free car inspections to benefit the Indpendence wrestling team. All tips and donations will go to help pay for wrestling camp and to purchase new equipment.
