Clear Creek Elementary holds ‘Rock the Test’ pep rally

“I believe that we’ll make 5’s!” was the cheer echoing through the gymnasium at Clear Creek Elementary School last Wednesday afternoon. The school held a pep rally for third, fourth and fifth graders in anticipation of End of Grade testing.  
“You say to yourself, ‘What is Miss Heath thinking letting us come in here and scream like maniacs two days before end of grade tests?’” said Principal Debbie Heath. “I was thinking you need a break. Today what we are doing is celebrating the fact that you are going to blow the lid off the EOGs.” 
After breaking through a “Rock the Test,” banner, Heath and the teachers performed a dance they had learned just for the students, who responded with cheers and applause.  […]

Civil War replica flag to be featured in Mint Hill Madness parade

Those attending the Mint Hill Madness parade at 10 am Saturday will glimpse a piece of history. The 13th NC Company B, a Civil War reenactment group, will carry a replica of the first flag captured by General Ulysses S. Grant during the Civil War.

Soles 2 Remember celebrates 98 runners

The Soles 2 Remember 5K kicks off Saturday, May 17 at Pine Lake Country Club. To date, 98 runners have registered and registration continues on line and on site race day.

Mint Hill Police Department sponsors this annual event.

Organizer Sgt. Michael Gainey says the fundraiser is all about awareness.

“To me the fundraiser is awareness of National Police Week, and to show honor to the officers that have died in the line of duty.”

Gainey says funds go to support the memorial fund for police. […]
