Mint Hill library manager is happy to help

According to a recent Mint Hill Library newsletter, it was some 62 years ago that Mint Hill’s only means of free reading was by means of a book mobile that came to town every Friday for one hour. A decade later the library occupied a small store front near downtown Mint Hill. Finally in May of 1999 the library opened its doors at its current location.
Almost 16 years later the 12,000-square-foot building is home to some 17,500 items. And there is more to come.
Since 2010 Mark Engelbrecht has served as the Mint Hill Library Branch Manager.
“I came to the Mint Hill Branch Library as the interim manager during a budget crisis,” explained Engelbrecht. “The position was formalized in the fall of 2010 and I was given the title of Location Manager.”  […]

Fundraising dinner Saturday, Feb. 21 at Big Guy’s Pizza

The local nonprofit Jamaica Hope Foundation will host a fundraising dinner Saturday, Feb. 21 at Big Guy’s Pizza, 6914 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, in Mint Hill.

The drop-in event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and will include raffle prizes such as: $25 TCBY gift certificate; 60-minute massage from Bliss Massage Therapy in Matthews; beach-themed painting from The Tipsy Paintbrush in Matthews; Thirty-One and Tupperware products and more.
Raffle tickets are $2 each or three for $5 and will be on sale at the restaurant the week of the fundraiser.
This is the first local fundraiser for the nonprofit since its 501(c)3 incorporation in April.  […]
