Why did eight local doctors sit in the parking lot of Mint Hill Dentistry on Friday as ice water rained down on their heads?
They were part of the Ice Bucket Challenge, designed to raise awareness for ALS, a disease of the nervous system that weakens muscles. In addition to disease awareness, the doctors’ goal was to call attention to the Joe Martin ALS Foundation in Charlotte. The non-profit aims to help those with ALS live actively through free home care services.
“I’d like for everyone to realize the point of doing this is to not just get your doctor wet; it’s to raise money to beat ALS,” said Dr. Earle Sullivan of Mint Hill Dentistry. “In particular I hope we raise awareness for the Joe Martin Foundation.” […]
