Kilah Davenport dies at age 4

The young girl who inspired a North Carolina law that increased sentencing for child abusers, died last week. Kilah Davenport, 4, was remembered by friends and family at a memorial in Mint Hill Sunday night. Davenport was abused by her stepfather in 2012 which caused permanent brain-damage.

10K signatures and counting for change

Ten thousand signatures and the Davenport family is one step closer to gaining closure for the tragic ordeal young Kilah Davenport suffered last year at the hands of her stepfather. Kilah’s doctors told her family she would not live after the May 16, 2012 beating, and later the doctor’s said she would be in a vegetative state for the rest of her life. In the months since, Kilah has grown stronger each day and is slowly learning to eat, walk, and talk again.

Kilahpalooza

Forty Rod will host Kilahpalooza August 12, 1-10 pm to raise funds for three-year-old Kilah Davenport, a victim of extreme violence. Money raised will be used to renovate the Davenport house for Kilah’s needs.
