Habitat Matthews looks to expand to Mint Hill

On top of celebrating 25 years of serving low-income families, Habitat Matthews is looking ahead to the future. Chamber holds ‘Celebrate Civic’ luncheon

The Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce held its monthly luncheon last Thursday with a “Celebrate Civic” theme. Guest speakers from several local non-profit organizations provided brief summaries of their contributions to the community and how to get involved as a volunteer. Habitat for Humanity, the Lions Club, Kiwanis, Mint Hill Arts and Blessed Assurance Adult Day Care were present at the event. Nate Huggins of Blessed Assurance explained the organization’s purpose as a location for seniors who don’t want to enter a nursing home. With a hair salon, computers, meals, and medical care, the center allows adults to remain independent while still receiving care and connecting with others. […]
