MHPD honors officers, citizen for life-saving efforts

Police Chief Tim Ledford recognized several officers and one citizen with awards for life-saving efforts at the town council meeting last Thursday. Ledford said the awards are for those that have “gone above and beyond the call of duty.”

Citizen Erik Bailey received a certification of accommodation. Bailey began chest compressions on a victim before police arrived to help. Corporal Michael Maness was also given an award for helping the victim upon his arrival.

Sergeant Billy Gilman and Officer Jacob Smith received awards for their efforts to extract an individual from a burning build. “It’s likely that the individual would have incurred further injuries or died without action,” Ledford said.  […]

The Mint Hill Police Department will be hosting Coffee with a Cop next Tuesday.
