Carolina Waterfowl rescues birds living in unsanitary conditions

 

The nonprofit Carolina Waterfowl Rescue took custody of nine roosters and five ducks seized by police in Chatham County late yesterday as part of a large-scale animal rescue.

The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant for the property and found 150 animals living in unsafe and unsanitary conditions and in need of medical care.

Local nonprofit to be featured on National Geographic show

The nonprofit Carolina Waterfowl Rescue will be featured on national TV next week.

The Indian Trail-based organization will be part of an episode of the show “We Move Animals,” on National Geographic’s Nat Geo Wild Channel, scheduled to air at 10 pm Saturday, Feb. 1 and re-air at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5.

The “Duck, Duck … Loose!” episode follows the Denicker family as they help rescue. Volunteers vaccinate, crate, relocate and release 100 rehabilitated ducks, geese and swans into the wild.
