Team Elam finishes 4th in fundraiser

The Elam-N8 Cancer team raised more than $26,435.34 at this past weekend’s 24 Hours of Booty bike race  to help fight cancer. It was the 4th highest amount raised of any team in the competition. Team member Charles Cullen raised the most money for an individual–$23,852.85. Way to go guys!

Holloman still not enrolled in Rock Hill

Former Independence defensive back DeVonte Holloman is still not officially enrolled at his new school, according to The Rock Hill Herald. Holloman needs to sign a statement affirming his parents are separated and he moved to the Rock Hill South Pointe district with his father. Holloman left Independence earlier this summer.

Presbyterian Hospital breaks ground, finally

Presbyterian Hospital broke ground Tuesday for its new facility outside of Mint Hill. The 50-bed hospital will be constructed near the Interstate 485 and Albemarle Road interchange. Mint Hill elected officials and staff attended the event. Troy Pollard was a huge supporter for the project and spoke at the ceremony.

Produce man sets up stand in MH

David White has been selling produce since he was kid. Since 2003, his Providence Produce has opened three produce stands and a warehouse. One of the produce stands is at the corner of Matthews-Mint Hill Road and Lawyers Road. Read his story in the Thursday Mint Hill Times.

Mint Hill man’s complaint nets $78,000 fine

Bluenc.com blogs about Mint Hill’s Thomas Strini who filed two complaints with the Federal Election Commission that cost the National Association of Realtors a nice chunk of change.
