Former Big I standout denied enrollment

The Rock Hill Herald reports today former Independence High School football player Dominique Walker was denied enrollment into South Pointe High School in S.C. Walker, who was (unfairly) hit with a 14 game suspension for ineligibility at the Big I last season, can’t play in S.C. as a result.

The angry Steve Smith returns. (Good!)

Steve Smith’s temper has flared up again. Smith, the Panthers’ No. 1 receiver, was involved in a fist fight with cornerback Ken Lucas. The Associated Press reported Lucas was carted off the field with an ice pack over his left eye.

Yet another school gets trashed

Providence High is the third victim this summer of high school property damage. Arsonists set fire to three sheds near the school’s softball field. Two sheds housed Panther football practice equipment and the third was used by the Matthews Athletic Association. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools estimated the fires caused roughly $31,000 in damage.

…dare we say a touch boring? Readers of The Mint Hill Times are also telling us it looks too much like Matthews’ town hall.
