HAWK meeting tonight

[singlepic=195,220,140,,right]The local Habitat and Wildlife Keepers chapter has a meeting at 7 pm tonight at the Matthews Community Center. Dr. David Grant will speak tonight about the interesting behaviors of spiders and how they hunt their prey. Grant is a biology professor emeritus at Davidson College, and he taught from 1968 to 2004.

Patriots keep Mustangs corraled

[singlepic=194,220,140,,right]It was a short night for Independence quarterback Anthony Carrothers. Carrothers threw for 209 yards and a touchdown on 12 complete passes in the first quarter Monday against Myers Park’s defense. The junior quarterback threw for 296 yards in the first half and finished with 318 yards.

Back-up quarterback P.J. Jackson took a majority of the snaps in the second half, and Independence won 55-15.

Bulldogs KO Knights, 38-8

The Butler Bulldogs got off to a slow start–as they have all season–but cruised in the second half with big plays from the offense, and a swarming defense in the win over Ardrey Kell.

Anthony Short scored on 9 and 83 yard touchdown runs and quarterback Christian LeMay was 12-24 for 206 yards and two touchdowns.
