Butler finishes third in 4A Wachovia Cup standings

Butler placed third in the final Wachovia Cup standings at 372.5 points. The Bulldogs had top spring finishes including third in women’s outdoor track and a tie for third in women’s soccer.  The Wachovia Cup award, sponsored by Wachovia, a Wells Fargo Company, and the NCHSAA, recognizes the high schools that achieve the best overall interscholastic athletic performances within each of the state’s four competitive classifications. MHAA boys win Babe Ruth league

The Mint Hill Boys 14-15 year old baseball won the Union County Babe Ruth League this season with a record of 13-2. They were facing other teams such as Piedmont,Weddington, Indian Trail, and Parkwood. This is the first time any Mint Hill team has ever won this league.

ESPN ranks Butler’s Cierra Burdick top of her class

Cierra Burdick, who might just be the best basketball talent in Mecklenburg County since Antawn Jamison, ranks near the top of ESPN Hoopgurlz Terrific 25 list of the 2011 class. Burdick is currently playing for the national 16U team and is the only North Carolina player in ESPN’s top 25.

MHAA Mavericks win state championship
