Mint Hill Athletic Association has opened registration for football, cheerleading, baseball, softball, and soccer. To register, just visit their website and do it all online. For those who want to help out the association, you can volunteer in several different areas.

The Mint Hill Mustangs beat North State tonight 6-2 in Greenville, NC to win the state championship in baseball. The 10-11 year old team lost in the previous game to North State to force the deciding championship game. To read the story, go to the Greenville Reflector. The Mint Hill Boys 14-15 year old baseball won the Union County Babe Ruth League this season with a record of 13-2. They were facing other teams such as Piedmont,Weddington, Indian Trail, and Parkwood. This is the first time any Mint Hill team has ever won this league.

The Mint Hill Mavericks 9U All Star Team won Nations Baseball NC State Championship June 14th by defeating the Carolina Prowlers 6 to 4 in the final game. The opening day for the Mint Hill Athletic Association baseball season, scheduled for tomorrow, has been canceled due to the rain.
“We’ll pick up with the schedule when the weather clears back up,” MHAA President Don McDaniel said.
The association will have a Family Fun Day on April 25 as a make up for the cancellation of Opening Day.
“It will be the same as opening day, except without the opening pitch,” McDaniel said.

The Char-Meck Girls Softball will be having its softball championships for the fall season, Thursday evening at South Charlotte Middle School on Strawberry Lane. The 8U and 10U will play at 6 pm and the 12U and 15U will play 7:30 pm. The Char-Meck League consists of teams from the Mint Hill, Matthews, Weddington, Pineville, Steele Creek, South Charlotte, MyersPark and Old Providence athletic associations. MHAA is still alive in all four brackets and could possibly sweep the tournament championships.
Mike Minter spoke to the Mint Hill Athletic Association football teams last night after scrimmages at the sports complex on Brief Road. More than 180 kids, parents and coaches listened as Minter talked about keys to success in football and life. [singlepic=34,220,140,,left]One of the most beloved Carolina Panthers in history will be in Mint Hill tonight. Former defensive back Mike Minter will speak at the Mint Hill Athletic Association opening day at the sports complex on Brief Road. Minter will walk around and interact with teams at 7:30 pm during scrimmages, speak for 15 minutes at 7:45, then sign autographs. All sports will attend in addition to football.
Myrtle Grove Optimist bounced Mint Hill little league from the state tournament last night. Team Mint Hill was one game away from going to the Southeast Regional in Gulfport, Fla., and from there a trip to Williamsport, Pa. for the Little League World Series.
Getting to the state championship game is an accomplishment, so nothing to hang their heads about. You’ll get’em next year!
