Arts council offers entrepreneur classes

Bulldogs beat Lions for first time

Markel Moore rushed 24 times for 128 yards and two touchdowns Friday as the Butler Bulldogs remain perfect with a 34-12 win over West Charlotte. Hawatha Bell and Jawaun Edwards rushed for two touchdowns a piece as the Bulldogs beat the Lions for the first time in school history.

Mecklenburg County and the flood

Three years almost to the day that Katrina hit New Orleans, the remnants of Hurricane Fay pounced Mecklenburg County with rain. Northern Meck was hit hard, so were the Cavalier Apartments on Monroe Road. Residents were evacuated the morning of August 27 to the East Meck High School gym. The county handled the situation with efficiency and professionalism. It was afterward, when some residents were told their county-bought flood insurance did not get processed in time, that trouble began.

Street racing ring broken in Mint Hill

A street racing ring which Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have had an eye for several weeks was broken up last night on I-485 in Mint Hill. Four of the guys were caught, while others got away.
