Mecklenburg County tax bills will soon be in the mail

From County staff: The Mecklenburg County Tax Collector will mail tax bills to approximately 379,300 property owners and mortgage companies on August 25, 2010.
Tax bills are mailed directly to the owner of the property as of Jan. 1, 2010 or the mortgage company that requested the bill for property owners with tax escrow accounts. Property owners who escrow their property taxes with a mortgage company will receive a property tax notification from the Tax Collector. These owners should review the notice carefully to ensure the bill was sent to the correct mortgage company. […]

Library forms task force to navigate rough financial waters

At last Thursday’s Mint Hill Board of Commissioners meeting, Tina Ross wondered why the library has not begun the effort to face its future funding problems. Her question is now answered. The library announced today it is forming a task force to help guide them in the restructuring process so it can remain viable in the community.

Former UNC-Charlotte Chancellor Dr. Jim Woodward will chair of the task force. He served as the chancellor of UNC Charlotte from 1989-2005, and was Interim Chancellor of NC State University in 2009. During his time at UNC Charlotte, he chaired the UNC System’s Information Technology Strategy Network Infrastructure Assessment Task Force.

The Library also announced today it has received a grant for $75,000 from the Community Catalyst Fund of the Foundation for the Carolinas to form a Future of the Library Task Force. […]

CMPD begins crime fighting program in Farm Pond neighborhood near Mint Hill

Twenty-Five years ago, Farm Pond was a new middle class neighborhood in one of the most desirable up-and-coming places to live in the Charlotte area. Take a trip down Albemarle Road today, and things are looking a lot different. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police hope a new crime fighting program will get Farm Pond back on sturdier ground.
