Granted, it’s just a rumor–but friends of the lawyers hired by CMS to investigate Independence football say Gorman demanded dirt on the Big I football program until the end. And the lawyers could have charged 3X the $96,000 for 400 hours of work.
Ink is in our blood. In 1970, John and Pat Long began publishing The Southeast News, a paper that covered Mint Hill, Matthews and Indian Trail. Three of John and Pat’s children (Laura, publisher of The Mint Hill Times; Tim, managing editor; and Elizabeth, advertising manager) were born in the first four years The Southeast News began publishing. That’s Tim sitting on top of freshly printed newspapers in 1971. The community newspaper has been our life.
In the brave new world of media, a print version of a newspaper is no longer enough. When Laura established The Mint Hill Times in 2006, we didn’t know what we wanted from a Web site. Most newspaper sites are too busy and don’t have enough information different from what was already in print. When we heard about blogging software that allows the user to control the Web site, we decided this was the way for us.
What can you expect from our Web site? Everyday, all day, The Mint Hill Times’ staff will blog about articles they are working on, news from another Web site, videos, pictures and sometimes fun stuff. All the clutter you are used to from a Web site—pop up ads, too many links, difficult navigation—will not be found on minthilltimes.info. Just the stuff you want to read about and as it happens.
