The Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce has joined the North Carolina Chamber Federation, an organization with 35,000 members that advocates on behalf of businesses at the state legislature. According to Mint Hill Chamber President Boyd Davis, joining the organization provides another benefit to chamber members. “The Chamber is always looking for opportunities to help businesses,” said Boyd. “It does not cost chamber members additional money as far as membership, but it adds an additional benefit to joining the Mint Hill Chamber.” The NC Chamber aims to promote economic growth by supporting policies in the General Assembly. Boyd said some of their recent issues have been education, commerce, talent supply and a competitive business climate. By supporting different bills in the legislature that favor businesses, the NC Chamber takes local needs to the state level. “It gives our businesses a voice in Raleigh, which is important,” said Boyd. “Even though it’s not Democratic or Republican, it is a voice for all our businesses to be represented.” Boyd said this benefit extends the list of other services offered already by the Mint Hill Chamber, such as the BIZ Expo, Business After Hours and marketing help. Now when businesses join the Mint Hill Chamber, they automatically join the North Carolina Chamber as well. The Mint Hill Chamber has tentative plans to host a meeting this fall with a representative from the NC Chamber so members can learn more about what the organization can do for their businesses.
