Aktion members display talents at Friday show

Join Aktion Club members this Friday evening at as they display talents for singing, dancing, musical instruments and much more as part of the fourth annual Aktion Club talent show. The event will be in the Kerr Recreation Center at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church. A dinner of hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad and chips begins at 5:30 pm, with the talent show beginning at 7 pm. The night also features a silent auction and raffle.

Aktion Club is designed to serve adults with disabilities throughout the community. The organization focuses on encouraging community involve- ment, supporting character develop- ment and fostering leadership skills. Participants in the talent show come from five Aktion Clubs in Mecklenburg, Union and Cabarrus counties.

other purpose. “It is a way for the Ak-
tion Club participants to show off what
they can do and not have to compete with anybody else, but just enjoy themselves,” said Becky Oke, event coordinator. The event is sponsored by six local Kiwanis clubs and the Arc of Mecklenburg, Union and Cabarrus counties.
