Barks, Bones & Biscuits is sponsoring an afternoon of fun Sunday, May 4 from 12:30-4:30 pm at 11300 Lawyer’s Road, Suite B.

The goal of Pawz Party is to collect dog food for local animal shelters, and raise money and awareness to support dog rescue efforts.

“There are no dog-specific events here in Mint Hill,” says Barks, Bones & Biscuits owner Robyn Kline. “So we wanted to draw attention to the needs of our local shelters and the great lengths people go to rescue animals that need help.”

Proceeds of food, supplies, and funds will be shared equally among The Humane Society, Animal Control, and Fabulous McGrady and Friends Foundation.

While the focus will be on collecting dog food for rescue shelters, and raising money through raffles and food and snack vendors, there will be lots of fun for people and animals alike.

“We are having a dog costume contest,” says Kline. “That should be a lot of fun.”

Dog trainers will be on site to offer tips on training. There will also be dog nail clipping and micro-chipping available.

For the two-legged participants, snow cones, funnel cakes and other food will be available, with a portion of profits going to help the cause.

The Fabulous McGrady will be at the Paws Party as a special guest. The 5 year old deaf Aussie is the lead dog at Fabulous McGrady and Friends Foundation. The organization helps rural Carolinas animal shelters in need.

Several dog rescue organizations will be on hand, such as the bull mastiff rescue, the pit bull rescue, and the greyhound rescue.

“If you’re looking for a dog, I bit you can find one on Sunday,” says Kline.

Hawthorne’s Pizza, Big Guy’s Pizza, Papa Johns, Doggy’s Day Out, and Dunwellz are some of the local businesses providing raffle prizes.

“This is why I wanted to open my business in Mint Hill,” says Kline. “All the businesses are so supportive of each other.”
