Mike Cochrane from Yadkin Bank welcomes visitors at last year’s inaugural Biz Expo.

Mint Hill has managed to maintain a good balance of larger corporate presence along with locally owned and operated businesses in its efforts to preserve the small-town feel that makes the town unique as a suburb of a fairly large city.

To celebrate this feat of good business sense, the Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 2nd Annual Biz Expo event on Thursday, March 13 from 4 to 7 pm at Blair Road Methodist Church Family Life Center in Mint Hill.

Approximately 50 local businesses will showcase their products and services to the community in an effort to expand their customer base in the area.

“When I think of a business expo, I think what a great opportunity to network, number one,” says Biz Expo Chairman Boyd Davis. “Number two, what a great opportunity for a business owner to expand and grow their business in a new channel, and also generate leads.”

The Title sponsor for 2014 is Messer Financial Group, a Mint Hill based insurance and financial agency.  Messer currently works with over 12,000 independent insurance agents nationwide, and was ranked the Carolina’s largest agency by the Charlotte Business Journal in 2013.

Area sponsors for this year include Sam’s Club of Matthews, Mint Hill Tractor & Equipment, and Strick Tree Services.

Scott Francis, nationally acclaimed keynote speaker, author and entertainer, will MC this year’s Biz Expo.  Francis inspires, motivates, and educates people by combining content, comedy, and magic in his speaking engagements. He will put these talents to good use as he engages the attendees and helps them understand more about the importance of “buying local.”

Francis will also select winners from the free raffle drawings of the many grand prizes offered by this year’s exhibiters.

Top prizes include; a Kindle Fire from Collins Cleaners, hotel stay with Country Inn & Suites, Free portrait session with Candice Wood Photography, $100 Lawn service from Green Earth Lawn & Landscaping, $50 Gift Certificate to Mint Hill Tractor, Sam’s Club Membership, and two tickets to a Panthers game from HB Cantrell & Co.

Over 90 percent of the exhibitors will be offering one grand prize, coupon or certificate at their booth.  All raffle entries are free and awarded on site.

Select exhibitors will also be offering product samples at the event,

Chick Fil A, Daphne’s Bakery, Big Guys Pizza, Nova’s Bakery, and Irene’s Café will represent the restaurant categories at the expo.

Owner-operated businesses such as Abbey Rose, Barks, Bones & Biscuits, Logo Pros, Phillips Energy System, Massage Sanctuary, Compliments Salon, Martial Arts Carolina, and Carolina Education Center will allow the community to meet the owners directly and learn more about the products and services available in Mint Hill.

Novant Health, Carolinas Healthcare, American Cancer Society, Blessed Assurance and Clear Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation will also have representatives at the event to allow residents to understand health options in the community.

Additional exhibitors in civic, retail and business will be available to meet and greet the public.  A complete list of exhibitors is available on the chamber web site.

The event location is 9135 Blair Road in Mint Hill. Admission and parking are free.
