Free movie screening at Blair Road United Methodist

movieSeason of Miracles, the latest movie from Elevating Entertainment, has an official release date of October 1, but Blair Road United Methodist Church will host an early release screening of the new family friendly movie on September 13 at 7:00 pm. This is the third feature film produced by Mint Hill native Dave Moody and his son Josh.

Season of Miracles tells the story of the Robins, an underdog Little League team in the deep south who turn their season around when newcomer and autistic baseball savant, Rafer (Grayson Russell, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Talladega Nights) joins their team.

Team leader Zack (Andrew Wilson Williams) takes Rafer under his wing despite taunting from their rivals, the Hawks. Their Coach (John Schneider, The Dukes of Hazzard), manager Rebecca (Sydney Morgan Layne), and the rest of the Robins encourage Rafer as the team rises towards an unlikely championship season.

Season of Miracles is the inspiring story about sportsmanship, friendship, and courage in the face of overwhelming adversity. The movie is based on the award-winning novel by Rusty Whitener, who also has a part in the movie.

Producer Dave Moody was raised in Mint Hill and was a 1980 graduate of Independence High School. He rose to fame in the 1980s with brothers Carleton and Trent as part of the Grammy nominated Moody Brothers.

Since then he has continued to make and produce award-winning music, carrying on his parents’ record label, Lamond Studio, which is now located in Nashville, Tennessee.

movieMoody’s most recent project, though, is the creation of Elevating Entertainment, a motion picture production company that is also based in Nashville. Together with son Josh, they have created three full length films.

“We’re focused on producing, marketing and distributing high quality family-friendly, uplifting, and life-inspiring films,” says Moody.  “This is a story about an autistic boy and how he touches everyone in a very special way.”

The movie will be available on DVD at Walmart, Target and Best Buy beginning October 1, 2013.

The preview will be shown free of charge at 7:00 pm and snacks will be provided. Blair Road United Methodist Church is located at 9135 Blair Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28227. For more information, call 704-545-6785.
