Village Woodwright shop gets facelift

Thanks to the generosity of The Home Depot on Albemarle Road, the newest building at the Carl J McEwen Historic Village is getting a fresh coat of paint. Plenty of paint, brushes, and volunteers arrived to work early Tuesday, July 30 to bring to life what will be the woodwright shop.

“This is not the first building we have painted here,” says Customer Service Manager Michele Douglas.  “We provided the paint and labor for two other buildings, too.”  She went on to say The Home Depot likes to get involved in community projects whenever they can.

The Albemarle Road store supplied the paint and the labor for all three projects.  The Ira Ferguson Country Store and Dr. Whitley’s office were both painted by volunteers from The Home Depot.

“Our volunteers work on service projects on their own time,” says Douglas. “Many of them leave their work shift to come to help.” […]
