The first annual Bain Daze will be held at the Mint Hill Park on Fairview next month, according to Tina Ross, chair of the Bain Restoration Committee of the Mint Hill Historical Society.
Billed as an “old-timey, family-friendly festival,” the event will take place at the park, rain or shine, September 21, from 10 am to 7 pm. Fun-filled games and activities such as cow pie bingo, corn hole tournament, horseshoe tournament, pumpkin toss, watermelon seed spitting contest, pie throwing, cake walks, a beard/moustache contest for men, and more are planned. The event will also feature food, crafts, and entertainment.
Proceeds from the event will go toward restoring Historic Bain, which dates to 1889, and has served thousands of students in its 134-year history. The building is located across from Philadelphia Presbyterian Church at the corner of Bain School Road and Philadelphia Presbyterian Church Road.
“We want this to be a community event for everyone,” says Ross. “We hope Mint Hill clubs and organizations will support and participate in Bain Daze. We welcome volunteers who are interested in working at the festival.”
