Kurt Van Horn has been running a home cleaning service for the past seven years. Starting out in Wingate, with Clean Carolina, Van Horn grew the business as far as he could by himself, and at the be- ginning of 2012, signed on with MaidPro, a national franchise based in Boston.

“I love the MaidPro model, it’s real, real good. It’s very customer-service oriented, which is where my heart is anyway, so MaidPro was a very, very good fit for me,” said Van Horn. “They really care about the franchisee and they care about the quality of clean for their customers.”

First, a potential customer can call the office, and answer a series of questions about their home, and in 10 to 15 minutes, can have an estimate of the cost of their services, and those estimates are usually spot-on, and competitive, within a few dollars of any competition, says Van Horn.

MaidPro offers a variety of residential cleaning options, including one-time, weekly, biweekly, and monthly cleanings.

“It’s a customizable residential cleaning, we just want to focus on what we do best, and that’s residential cleaning,” said Van Horn. “So we don’t do any carpet cleaning, we don’t do any industrial work, it’s just strictly residential cleaning.”

The MaidPro model uses a 49-point checklist when cleaning homes, leaving no stone unturned and ensuring the customer receives the best cleaning service possible. The service also includes a 24-hour satisfaction guarantee.

“If the customer is not happy, we’d be glad to go out and re-clean, of course with no extra charges,” said Van Horn.

Currently, Van Horn has five employees at MaidPro East Charlotte, but at the rate of growth he is experiencing, he expects to quadruple that number, ending the 2013 calendar year with 20 employees.

Each employee, before starting work, is given a background check and thorough evaluation before entering any customers’ homes.

“We’re very particular about who we hire,” Van Horn said. “I’ve got to believe that they’re going to do their job and do it honestly. Integrity is the most important thing when I hire somebody, I have to feel like they’re a person of integrity.”

Today, MaidPro East Charlotte, located at 11300D Lawyers Road in Mint Hill, is serving Mint Hill and East Charlotte, and is growing fast, already serving area codes 28227, 28213, 28215, and all of the Mint Hill area.

Currently, the company has a special for customers who sign up for MaidPro’s biweekly cleaning service, a savings of $75 over the course of the first five home cleanings, saving $25 on the first, third, and fifth cleaning. For readers of The Mint Hill Times exclusively, Van Horn is offering a three-hour trial cleaning for $99-a one-time offer.

“We love the Mint Hill community,” Van Horn said. “I’ve been living in Union County for 20 years and my wife is a schoolteacher over at Bain and we are probably going to be putting our house up for sale and moving into the Mint Hill community, we absolutely love it here.”
