Patients and residents from the Mint Hill area gathered at the clinic, located on Hawthorne Drive across from Jimmies Restaurant and Harris Teeter, Thursday, January 24.
Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce president Rich Ferretti, along with DaVita staff, doctors and patients cut the ribbon, officially opening the clinic and welcoming it to Mint Hill.
Guests were treated to a facility tour, food, and refreshments, including a custom DaVita cake.
Tammy Leahy, regional operations director for DaVita, welcomed guests, and Lee Proctor, pastor at Mint Hill Baptist Church, delivered the invocation.
Troy Gaston, a patient at DaVita, addressed the crowd about the work that DaVita does, and the treatment that he receives.
“The one thing that I’ve definitely been made aware of, is because of their care, I am alive today,” Gaston said. “The term DaVita is definitely latin for ‘life,’ and that’s what they give to usąlife. And I’m just grateful for what they do.”
DaVita Medical Director Dr. Jack Lohavichan also spoke to the opening of the location, saying, “Even before the first patient comes, there’s a lot of work that has to be done. And so we appreciate you being here to celebrate this accomplishment.”
