Mint Hill Arts has teamed up with art supply store Binders for a juried art exhibit next month.  This is the first time the groups have joined together for such an event, though they have been working together in other ways for years.  The opening reception is Friday, June 15, from 7-9 pm, and the show will run until July 11.
The show is open to all artists, including non-Mint Hill Arts members.  Registration fees are $20 for members and $40 for non-members.  Artists can enter up to two pieces.
Any medium or combinations of media will be accepted, including 2-D and 3-D work, with few exceptions and restrictions.
Binders has provided all of the prizes—gift certificates, ranging from $25 to $150.
“They are very supportive and always donate gift certificates to our shows.  This time they offered to donate all of the prizes,” said gallery chair Tony Billotto.  He asked Binders to donate the honorable mention prizes, but manager Anthony Ochoa offered to provide all of the prizes.  Billotto said artists can appreciate this “free art money” when they win.  “I can’t be thankful enough,” he said.  “It was very generous… It’s a great thing.”
This is the first juried show Mint Hill Arts has hosted since moving  into the new gallery.  They intend to do four or five shows this year.
The Binders jury will be made of Binders representatives, not Mint Hill Arts members.  Judging will be Monday, June 11.  The gallery will be closed for the judging process.
Intake is Friday, June 8, from 4-6 pm and Saturday, June 9, from 10 am to 12 noon.
As always, the opening reception is free to everyone.  Awards will be presented at 8 pm.  Mint Hill Arts will provide appetizers, wine, and soft drinks and will appreciate any donation.
“In some of our shows in the past we’ve had 400 pieces of art on the wall.  We’ll certainly fill the place up with artwork,” said Billotto.
