Tony Long of Mint Hill Tool Rental on Blair Road was recently honored locally and nationally for his dedication to service in the community.
Long runs his family operation with the help of his father, Herbert, and his brother, Wendell. Long was honored by the American Rental Association in December. The national organization annually recognizes its volunteers for service to the association. Long was named as a Region 3 outstanding contributor to the association and the rental industry as a whole on a regional, state and local level.
Last week, Long was recognized at the monthly Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce luncheon for his dedication and more than 14 years of service to the Mint Hill business community. Long is a former president of the Chamber.
Chamber Director Sandy Barnette said this of Long: “It has been an honor to work with Tony Long over the past few years and Mint Hill is very lucky to have him working on behalf of our community. Tony is one of those rare individuals who quietly works behind the scenes to accomplish the tasks at hand, whether it be Chamber functions, Mint Hill Madness or the Senior Christmas Party. We have all benefited by his presence and ideas.”
Long’s father and brother were at the award presentation, as well as his mother, Peggy, and sister, Janice Efird.
The Long family has worked together since 1985. Long said this has been a learning experience for him.
“I have been really fortunate. But this is a team effort. I didn’t do it alone. We all work together. It was a great surprise to receive this award. I’m sure I didn’t deserve it. The Chamber of Commerce team and Sandy Barnette, made it all possible.”
