Ted H. Biggers, Jr. was elected to serve as Mecklenburg-Union Metropolitan Planning Organization (MUMPO) chairman for the third consecutive year on January 18. Mayor Linda Paxton was elected as the vice-chairperson. MUMPO’s coordinates transportation policy for 14 local governmental jurisdictions within the Mecklenburg-Union County Area. The MPO is charged with the responsibility of preparing and adopting the long range transportation plan, the Transportation Improvement Program and the Unified Planning Work Program.
